Branding
To celebrate the 125th anniversary of Fleisher Art Memorial, GDLOFT designed a commemorative logo that honored the organization’s long history while supporting a yearlong series of public events and exhibitions. Founded in 1898, Fleisher is one of the nation’s oldest community art centers and has spent more than a century making art education accessible to all Philadelphians regardless of background or financial means.
The anniversary identity was created to unify a wide range of celebratory programming—including a neighborhood block party, a ticketed birthday celebration in Fleisher’s historic Sanctuary, the annual Founder’s Award weekend, and a series of exhibitions and satellite installations throughout Philadelphia. The mark needed to work seamlessly across digital and print communications, event materials, environmental graphics, and promotional campaigns.
The design draws from key elements of Fleisher’s history and architecture. The arch in the anniversary mark is derived from a window found in the institution’s historic Sanctuary, echoing the building’s distinctive architectural character and its role as a gathering space for the creative community. The color palette was inspired by early twentieth-century references from the Fleisher Yarn Company—the family textile business connected to founder Samuel Stewart Fleisher—drawing on yarn color materials dating to around 1916.
Our design balances celebration with institutional legacy, creating a mark that feels both commemorative and contemporary. By integrating the anniversary into Fleisher’s established visual language, the identity reinforces the organization’s role as a cultural anchor in Philadelphia while marking an important milestone in its ongoing mission to make art accessible to everyone.
