Artist Pam Longobardi approached GDLOFT to create a catalog for her recent Drifters series. Longobardi’s sculptures are made from harvested plastic waste that drifts ashore at various island locations around the world. Construction of the catalog was based on the idea of the ebb and flow of water— allowing the viewer to access essays at various points in a cyclical motion akin to the tides of water. Concept phrases subtly hide along the various places in the catalog to give the reader new information to uncover as they flow through the catalog. This feature reflects Longobardi’s creative process of collecting materials that wash up along the shore.
